Cardinal Gregory’s Visit to St. Jane de Chantal “It is always a pleasure to welcome you to St. Jane de Chantal Parish, but most especially today in the wake of the vandalism and arson that took place in our spiritual home last month. Your presence, your leadership, your encouragement gives us a great deal of strength ourselves and lifts our spirits.” These are the words Fr. Giese spoke as he, together with the St. Jane de Chantal community welcomed Cardinal Wilton Gregory during his visit to St. Jane’s last weekend. With concelebrants Fr. Giese, Fr. Clyne, and Fr. Pierre Henri, pastor of St. Louis of France Parish, Cardinal Gregory celebrated the 5:00 pm vigil Mass last Saturday, August 6. Cardinal Gregory stated that he had come “to be a part of this family in a moment when so many of you were so shaken by the events that touched the house of the church here.” He also wanted to publicly thank Fr. Giese “for his extraordinary leadership in the face of the vandalism.” Read the full story by Mark Zimmermann online in the Catholic Standard’s “Local” section by visiting www.cathstan.org.
